Top 5 Underrated Movies (that we like)

Let’s check out a list of the most underrated movies (and our favorites)

5. The Illusionist (2006)

Reason: People don’t talk about this movie enough. It’s not perfect, but it has great performances from Edward Norton, Jessica Biel, and Paul Giamatti. The tone and structure reminds me of a 19th century fairy tale. Did I mention that Phillip Glass composes the music? If you don’t know who that is — check out the Illusionist soundtrack out now on YouTube.

4. Bedazzled (2000)

Reason: Yes, it’s a remake and yes, it has problems. That being said, it’s a funny comedy and I’ve always enjoyed the first half more than the second half of the film. The premise is intriguing and Brenden Fraser and Elizabeth Hurley look like they’re having a lot of fun on set. It’s worth a watch guys!

3. Legend (1985)

Reason: It has a lot of mixed reviews and I hear Tom Cruise won’t even talk about this movie. But I like this movie. The pacing is slow and sometimes, it feels a little messy. But Tim Curry is awesome as Darkness and the practical effects/ prosthetic is amazing. Did I mention that Ridley Scott directed this movie?

2. Apacalypto (2006)

Reason: Mel Gibson did a great job with this movie. Yes, maybe it’s not historically accurate but it’s still a well written and well acted film. It’s your standard chase film, but with several twists and turns = which makes it really entertaining and unique.

1. V for Vendetta (2006)

Reason: I am astonished that this movie had to compete against Failure to Launch. It’s such a great movie. The characters, played by Natalie Portman and Hugo Weaving are riveting and the story surprisingly has a emotional punch to it.
